Bladder Control/Incontinence
Bladder incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine. It's a symptom of a physical or neurological problem and not a disease. Stress or urge are the two common types of incontinence. Symptoms include:
-
Leaking urine or stool when you sneeze, run, exercise, laugh, cough (Stress urinary incontinence)
-
Problems getting to the bathroom in time (urgency)
-
Constipation
-
Frequent need to urinate

Bowel Control/Incontinence
Bowel or fecal incontinence is the involuntary loss of stool or gas. It is a symptom of a physical or neurological problem and not a disease. Stress or urge are the two common types of incontinence. Symptoms include:
-
Leaking stool when you sneeze, run, exercise, laugh, cough (Stress incontinence)
-
Problems getting to the bathroom in time (urgency)
-
Constipation
-
“skid marks” on underwear
-
inability to control passage of gas
Vulvodynia and Vestibulodynia
Vulvodynia is continuous pain or discomfort around the vulva, or opening of the vagina. There is usually no identifiable cause and will last at least three months or longer. The pain can be constant or occasional, in the entire vulvar area or in a specific spot. The main symptom is pain in the genital area that can be described as:
-
Burning
-
Itching
-
Painful intercourse (see Dyspareunia)
-
Stinging
-
Soreness
-
Throbbing
A similar condition, Vestibulodynia, causes pain only when pressure is applied to the vulvar area.

Dyspareunia (Painful Intercourse)
Dyspareunia is a persistent or reoccurring genital pain that happens just before, during or after sexual intercourse. If you have painful intercourse, you might feel:
-
Pain only at sexual entry (penetration)
-
Pain with every penetration, including inserting a tampon
-
Deep pain during thrusting
-
Burning pain, aching pain or throbbing pain, lasting past time of intercourse

Coccydynia/Tailbone Pain
Coccydynia, or tailbone pain, can make it difficult to sit, lie flat or go from sit to standing because where the tailbone (coccyx) joins the sacrum can become strained leading to both joint problems and problems in the surrounding pelvic floor muscle.

Constipation
Irregular, infrequent or difficult elimination of stool that does not have an underlying medical disorder can often be treated through physiotherapy.

Low Back/Pelvic Girdle Pain
Low back pain usually results from excess movement of the vertebrae and pelvis. Excess movement is caused by weak core stabilizers failing to automatically contract when we move.
